Get Your Magic Mouse Working In Windows 10 With These Drivers

If you’re an Apple fan, you’d be pleased to hear that both the original Magic Mouse and Magic Mouse 2 works near perfectly in Windows 10 with help from some free drivers. Here’s how you can set it up!

Magic Mouse Works Perfectly In Windows 10 With These Drivers

The Magic Mouse is Apple’s flagship mouse device. It is the input device of choice for Mac users who use it with their iMac and even their MacBooks! It was initially released in 2009, stayed in the market for almost six complete years before being replaced by the taller, replaceable-battery Magic Mouse 2.

Now, the thing with Apple in general, and both original Magic Mouse and Magic Mouse 2 in particular is that they don’t really design their products to play well with others. Case in point: neither mice come with good, built-in support for Windows over Bluetooth.

In fact, I would say Apple goes above and beyond in ensuring their devices don’t work well with others. They really just don’t give a hoot. The Magic Mouse works perfectly fine when you run Windows on your Mac through BootCamp, but if you try to connect it with any other Windows laptop or desktop, it refuses to work properly.

While on OS X, the Magic Mouse 1 and 2 let you use multi-finger gestures for different actions like scrolling, opening Mission Control, switching between full-screen apps and more, on Windows it is pretty much a simple Bluetooth mouse.

Thankfully, we’ve come across free Windows drivers for Magic Mouse that bring much of its functionality to Microsoft’s operating system. It’s called Trackpad Magic, and now we’ll show you how to set it up! This goes without saying but it works equally well for Magic Mouse 2, too!

Setting up Trackpad Magic to use Magic Mouse in Windows 10

Step 1: Visit Trackpad Magic’s downloads page [Trackpad Magic link], and download the particular drivers for your specific model – Magic Mouse 1 or 2. You will get an EXE file which we’ll work with to set things up.

Step 2: Open the EXE file. This will launch a setup wizard for installing the driver utilities for your Magic Mouse. Follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.

Step 3: In an odd little move, the setup wizard will download some additional utilities  for your particular Magic Mouse. I expected it would already do this when you had to choose which model you’re downloading the wizard for, but okay, not a big issue.

Step 4: Run the installed utilities from the final page in the setup wizard. If you didn’t do so, search for Magic Mouse utilities from the taskbar. Chances are, however, you can also access the installed drivers from the system tray.

Final step to pair Magic Mouse

Step 5: Pair your Magic Mouse 1 or 2 with your Windows computer via Bluetooth and enjoy. Be sure to keep the utility open while pairing and during its use.

That’s it! This has been confirmed to be working on Windows 10 on an HP laptop, and we’ve seen reports of it working well for a lot of other users too.

Let us know if you come across any issues with TrackPad Magic. We’ll try fixing them for you!

why is this a trail version??? If you have a magic mouse what are we expected to pay to get a license and WHY

    • Steven Vacher

Diane, this is a third party application and not a bit of Apple software, it obviously works on a MAC without any aditional drivers or cost.
The mouse works fine on a Windows machine but features like scrolling aren’t available without something like this driver app.

    • Jim Duse

So wait, I bought the mouse for around $60, I bought windows for like $50-$100… And I’m gonna have to pay to make them work together?! seriously windows?? come on!! Loool!

  • JohnMiller2013

I really want this to work. But every time I try it, the clunkiness and choppiness of the scrolling is just a litte too frustrating to keep using.

  • What about bluetooth Mighty Mouse? I know there is a tool for this mouse because I read about it in an article, but I can not find it anymore.

    • Cody Taylor

The Mighty Mouse works straight outta the gate on 10, scrolling and all. The only issue I had was the scroll ball was way to sensitive, but that’s fixed in control panel.

  • Ray Sunny

I tried to install this software on my laptop. Yeah, take the risk. Then, I uninstalled it. But, now the scrolling function is not working. I have re-installed boot camp and installed fresh windows. But, my mouse still not working correctly. Please help me! I am now literally crying!

Most cars do need drivers for the brakes to work though…

For those of you who are complaining about the software cost, it’s no different than an app developer for an app store, or game developer for video games, or even necessities that you purchase. They would like to be compensated in some way rather than doing their hard work for free. Let’s be glad there is at least an option out there, that’s it, an option.

    Some examples would be:
-Going to a restaurant, eat the food, and leave without paying.
-Try on clothes at a store and walk out of it, again without paying.

I know these examples could very well be done, but it’s illegal and most people do not do the aforementioned examples as someone has to cook the food, make the clothes, ship all the material, etc.

Nobody is forcing you to purchase it, let alone use it. It’s nice that they at least give you a 28 day trial to know if you want to purchase it or not.

The software cost isn’t expensive either. The only thing I would recommend is a bundle deal for all of the products, mix and match discount, or a bundle for all + future products (to an extent).

My point is, after you read all of this, have more respect for people trying to make your life easier instead of complaining about trying to make money off of it, when that is the world we live in.

    • Justin Krause

The issue is the subscription model tha tnearly everything is trying to implement. Yes everyone should be compensated for their work but no one should have to pay indefinitely for anything. Just give it 10 years and you will have 500 subscriptions that add up to more than your rent every month and we will see how you feel about it then when its too late.

      • Right Now

Brian, trying on clothes without paying??? Yes, I will try on clothes and if I don’t like it I will not make a purchase. On another note, there should not be a recurring fee for anything. Any company who does that should not be in the market. That’s real greed and they shouldn’t have any customers. Just you to know how things work in this world. Nothing out there in terms of software is original made. Every single code is a steal from some other developer, and of course twisted carefully, changing the syntax and add some bs to it. Nothing at all is original hence no developer should ask for a recurring payment or even claim copyrights. No current software has an original idea or perform a unique task. Developers should say thank you if people buy one time from them because what they are doing is working on code already invented by other developers or pioneers who left their work for free to the current ones. It’s not nice or fair what they are trying to do.

  • Greg Freeman

this crap is a joke it just killed the connection to my mouse and they want money? fuck them!

Hola, les dejo la forma en que pude hacer que funcionara el Magic Mouse en mi Windows 10 6a bits, sin pagar un peso:

Estas instrucciones son la unión de dos manuales

Hi! I found this working for me..

Find bootcamp version of your computer from here, and download it..

Open downloaded zip file.. and find folder called “AppleBluetoothBroadcom”(for me it was inside of “$WinPEDriver$” folder) extract it, and run the installer (called “DPInst.exe”).

Voila.. now your magic mouse will work perfectly

***Una vez haciendo esto el mouse funciona pero sin Scrolling, para utilizar esta otra función debemos seguir el manual 2

Apple Magic Mouse – Fixing Windows 10 scrolling

If you’re a fan of Apple’s Magic Mouse you can use it on Windows, however after pairing via Blue Tooth (the code is 0 0 0 0) you’ll find that the touch scrolling doesn’t work.

    It’s easily fixed however,

Download Boot Camp Support Software and unzip, in my case that was unzipping

Open the folder BootCamp5.1.5621BootCampDriversApple and install AppleWirelessMouse64.exe.
Switch the mouse off & on and you’re done.

    Happy Scrolling!

    • Felipe Valderrama

Hola Ulises, seguí las instrucciones y no funcionó el scrolling con mi Magic Mouse… a ti te funcionó?

  • IanP

This is an independent application that an individual worked on. It’s fair that he ask for compensation for doing what apple didn’t. It’s better than there being nothing at all.

Also, while frustrating, apple is under no obligation to provide driver support for their mouse on a platform which they do not own, as nice as it would be to have it, and your car analogy makes no sense in that the car manufacturer provides a full product. It’d be like you being upset a mechanic is charging you for a tool that allows you to use a new Jeep engine in an older Jeep body and transmission.

  • This solution worked for me:

I’ve dismounted the magic crap keeping only the upper shell, I’m using it as an ashtray now.. works just fine.
Ha! And I bought a usb mouse for 3 bucks.

  • john lewis

This says free, for near perfect functionality. You lied. Magic Utilities is everything that’s wrong with subscription models. I would have bought about 3 licenses by now if it were a one time thing, like, er I dunno, BUYING MY MOUSE!!! Brian, take note, it’s not the fee, its the greed of wanting recurring rent on my owned outright stuff. I’ll just not bother.

  • john lewis

Seems you can just extract the Bootcamp driver and avoid the racket

DISQUS, this is for you. That email you sent to my email box saying F You See You Soon was really low. A communication platform should be impartial and not getting into the mix. I agree you have the right to remove comments that use profanity, but not to answer or remove comments that don’t agree with your view. You shouldn’t have an opinion in the first place. You are the host who makes available a platform for debate. Are we living in a dictatorial regime here with Yes People standard? Not nice

  • Dr Emuler

theres a real solution for scrolling features, without third party software.

  • You don’t need third party drivers. Apple supplies them all. See this link

  • Pondo

you have to pay to use your device for one year.

    LMAO, talk about greed
